I said, “Yes!”

It was November 21, 2002, one of those weeknights when we were just hanging out after work at my house, watching TV and having some dinner.

The only problem was, I lived with four girls and three of them were hanging out with us too.

So after we finished our dinner, we headed over to his house to finish watching our show and do some more hanging out.  It boggles my mind when I look back at how busy I always thought I was when I was single.  But I digress.  I had been begging asking him for weeks to write me something.  He really is an excellent writer, and I wanted some poetry, or a short story, or just a card.  So when he presented me with this book, I was pleasantly surprised.

In my mind, he had gone above and beyond in answering my request.

Little did I know

that at the end of this precious book

that he had been working on for quite sometime

while he was getting his ducks in a row…

He was not just planning a proposal.

He was planning the little and big things that needed to happen in order for us to take that next big step into our future together.

I nearly passed out when he got down on one knee and said,

“Mary deChantal Catherine Jones, will you marry me?”

It was so fun to be utterly in shock.  It really was.  I said, “Yes” and maybe a few other things.

I waited 2.5 seconds to call our priest to reserve the church.

We had our engagement blessed at a lovely dinner our friends hosted for us.

And seven months later to the day, we got married on the first day of summer.

I love you, Hubs.  Thank you, thank you for choosing me!

  1. Congratulations and happy anniversary. The yellowing of that first photo of hubs is the only clue that it isn’t your oldest! Oh my do they look alike!
