This is what our dining room table will look like for some of our family’s special Advent Feast Day celebrations, Christmas Eve Dinner, Christmas Dinner, and probably New Year’s Eve as well.
Table cloth ~ Threshold at Target
Gold angels ~ Pier One
Gold Chargers ~ Michael’s Craft Store
Gold bells ~ Pier One
Everything else is either a family heirloom, or something I purchased in past years.
The china was given to The Hubs and I as a wedding gift from my parents. They had first given it to my maternal grandparents for their 50th wedding anniversary. Now that’s what I call an acceptable and meaningful re-gift!
The glass candelabras were my maternal grandmothers. Even the white damask napkins were hers. For me, filling the table with pieces that have been handed down mixed with modern updates makes for a memorable holiday dinner.
And when the table isn’t set and ready for a feast, I keep some things on our side table, er, dresser, and at the ready on a small counter by the dining room. The last thing I have time for during the holidays is to get things out of their storage places. And having everything stacked up and waiting means they’ll get more use as well.
Here’s a pic from our celebration of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.
